Weekend Zombie Gaming

It's a good time to be a gamer and zombie fan. Whether it's news about a standalone zombie game or your favorite shooter's zombie mode, there's usually a daily news item related to zombie gaming.

We have collected a few news bits this weekend for gamers, including Left 4 Dead 2 DLC information, a video of the gore system in Dead Island, and a Black Ops holiday bonus for their zombie mode.

Left 4 Dead 2 DLC

Left 4 Dead 2 will be getting new DLC and while a release date has not been set, Valve has announced the inclusion of a community project into the DLC release:

"Matthew Lourdelet (2 Evil Eyes) has been working on a new community campaign – Cold Stream. We loved 2 Evil Eyes and Cold Stream looks even more promising with innovative game play arenas and effects. Matthew has really shown that there are still plenty of new ideas in L4D2 modding.

He recently shared it with us and we love it so far but it isn’t done. We were tempted to have him quietly finish it with our help and release it as part of an upcoming DLC.

Tempted… but we decided against that. Instead, we think we have a better idea. We want you the community to be part of the process of taking his unfinished campaign and releasing it as DLC on the Xbox 360, PC and Mac. "

The community campaign will join the original Left 4 Dead campaigns that are being ported for the upcoming DLC release. For more information, visit the official Left 4 Dead 2 Blog.

Dead Island Gore System Video

Dead Island has been in development for over 4 years now, and while there are no new gameplay videos, a technology video that was released last year may help give you a better idea of what to expect.

Black Ops Zombie Mode Unlock

This may not apply to most Call of Duty fanatics, but Activision has unlocked 2 zombie mode levels for the President's day holiday, even if you have not beaten the single player campaign:

"Call of Duty: Black Ops is getting unlocked for President's Day Weekend! Starting now, two levels are being unlocked for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC-- DOA and Five.

DOA, or Dead Ops Arcade puts you and up to three other soldiers in a pursuit of the Cosmic Silverback; tracking him through a gauntlet of arenas filled with traps, treasure and waves of flesh-hungry zombies.

Five features four significant real-life figures from the Cold War era: John F. Kennedy, Robert McNamara, Fidel Castrol and Richard Nixon. They are all meeting in the Pentagon when zombies break in and start attacking."
