Zombie Infection Slowed in Maggie

It is pretty amazing how many zombie projects are currently in the works and we can add one more to the list, as a new zombie script has been acquired by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) to turn into a feature film. Titled Maggie, this script changes up the traditional zombie infection rate and follows a family who has an infected daughter:

"Maggie is a 16-year old girl from a town in middle America who becomes infected by a zombie. Much the way that Danny Boyle changed the lumbering zombie stereotype by speeding up the undead in 28 Days Later, Maggie changes the lightning quick infection period evident in most zombie films, where victims become zombies in minutes. It will take six months for Maggie to turn, and the film tracks the transformation as she stays with her family."

Deadline reports that the film's budget is planned at under $10 million dollars and that production could begin within the next year. We'll make sure to keep an eye on Maggie, along with all of the other zombie films currently in development.
