With the possibility of a theatrical Zombieland sequel looking more and more unlikely, a new report reveals that Fox and Sony Pictures Television are looking to turn Zombieland into a TV series.

According to Vulture and other sources, Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will also be writing for the TV series, and we wouldn't be surprised to see them in a producing role. The series is being developed as a half hour show, with an expected release in the 2012-2013 season. For those that may be unaware, the Zombieland script was originally conceived as a TV series pilot, so Reese and Wernick have had the basic plan for the series mapped out for some time.

If development of the Zombieland TV series goes into full swing, what happens to movie sequel plans? According to Zombieland producer Gavin Polone, the sequel won't happen if the TV show goes into full development. Show details are pretty light at the moment, but we'll keep readers posted on any new developments.
