The leader of The Saviors has finally been chosen, as The Walking Dead has cast Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan.

The news of Negan's casting comes from the folks at The Hollywood Reporter, who reveal that Morgan (Watchmen, The Good Wife, Texas Rising) has been picked for the juicy part after much consideration.

As fans of Robert Kirkman's comic book series know, Negan is a notorious leader of a group of survivors known as The Saviors. A big man with a warped sense of humor and a penchant for dropping "F-bombs", Negan rules with a barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat he lovingly calls Lucille. Local communities are forced to comply with Negan's demands for food and other resources, or risk the wrath of his swing.

Negan first appeared in issue #100, making an immediate impact on readers' psyches with his horrifying slaying of a key character, leading to the action-packed events of the massive "All Out War" story arc.

*Spoiler Alert* Jeffrey Dean Morgan will reportedly first appear as Negan in The Walking Dead Season 6 finale before becoming a series regular in Season 7.

In addition to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, a small group of actors including Timothy Olyphant, Matt Dillon and Garret Dillahunt were pondered for the role. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more details. In the meantime, what do you think of Morgan being cast as Negan?
