Ever since the end credits rolled in Ridley Scott's Prometheus, viewers have been wondering if we'll see more of Elizabeth Shaw on the big screen. But when Alien: Covenant, Scott's sequel to his Alien prequel, was announced, actress Noomi Rapace was oddly absent from the gradually revealed cast. Until now.
Deadline reports that Rapace is on the Australian set of Alien: Covenant and is expected to "shoot weeks worth of scenes." If Rapace is indeed back as Shaw, fans could finally see what happened after archeologist Elizabeth Shaw and the decapitated head of the android David (played by Michael Fassbender, who is already confirmed to co-star in Alien: Covenant), flew off the surface of LV-223 in search of the Engineers' home planet.
In addition to the aforementioned Fassbender (and potentially Rapace), the cast of Alien: Covenant includes Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice), Demián Bichir (The Bridge), Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down), Amy Seimetz (The Sacrament, You’re Next, A Horrible Way to Die), Jussie Smollett (Empire), Carmen Ejogo (The Purge: Anarchy), Callie Hernandez (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, Machete Kills), and Billy Crudup (Spotlight).
The second of three planned prequel films, Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant is scheduled to hit theaters on August 4th, 2017.
Alien: Covenant synopsis: “Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”
