Horror Highlights: Kane Hodder Joins the Cast of WITCHULA, BORN AGAIN Teaser, VALENTINE DAYZ

Another horror icon joins the cast of Witchula, and it's Kane Hodder (Hatchet, Old 37, Friday the 13th series)! Hodder will play a pivotal role in the film and will also take the position as Stunt Coordinator. Also in today's Horror Highlights: a look at the teaser for the devilish Born Again and production details on Valentine DayZ.

Kane Hodder Joins the Cast of Witchula: Press Release: "HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - Aug. 8, 2016 - PRLog -- 'Witchula', which many are already referring to as the "real Expendables of horror," has announced the addition of Kane Hodder to a cast that already features horror icons Bill Oberst Jr. and Eileen Dietz, as well as indie favorite Marilyn Ghigliotti. Hodder is best known for his iconic roles of Jason Voorhees in the Friday the 13th franchise and as Victor Crowley in all three 'Hatchet' films. Hodder will not only act in the film in a role that producer Matt Chassin describes as "pivotal," but also has signed on as Stunt Coordinator. Producer John Blythe describes the move as, "the next step in bringing huge iconic horror talent to Witchula"

'Witchula' is a co-production of U.S.-based MAB Studios and the U.K.'s Silent Studios, and will be filmed internationally. The U.S. scenes will be directed by writer/producers Marcus Bradford and Pat Kusnadi, while the U.K. scenes will bring on Silent Studios' Jason Wright as a special guest director under the direction of Bradford and Kusnadi. Wright says Hodder is not only a talented icon but, "is such a nice and humble guy," and "we're all looking forward to working with him in the future."

'Witchula" combines several sub-genres as the producers have promised to give the horror fans what they want. Witches, werewolves, vampires and more will be featured. Kusnadi sums it up by saying," This is a thrill for us to have such great talents from iconic horror actors who portrayed iconic horror characters. This is what the worldwide horror fans deserve. They deserve the long-awaited film that can be proudly called as the real expendables of horror." Marcus Bradford goes even further promising casting is not done, "More coming your way, horror fiends!!!"

Born Again Teaser Video: Press Release: "Columbus, OH – The Hands Off Productions team has a lesson for us all in their upcoming horror-comedy short: summoning the devil is hilariously hard.

In Born Again, after a series of comedic errors, five bumbling Satanists have their dark ceremony go horribly, horribly … right. The result? Maybe the truest “holy shit” moment ever shot.

“We wanted to go back to our ‘80s horror roots when you could get a laugh with your blood splatter,” said Jason Tostevin, who directed and co-wrote. “And of course we wanted to push the boundaries of taste – I’m pretty sure we’ll offend some folks.”

The short stars award-winning actor and indie horror icon Ellie Church (Frankenstein Created Bikers, Harvest Lake, Time to Kill) as the pregnant leader of the cabal, returns veteran Brian Spangler (Progeny) and introduces Randall Greenland as “Doug,” the affable screw-up who might just have ended the world.

“We had a dream team in terms of talent, starting with Ellie, who is poised to explode,” said Tostevin. “She was so fun to have on set, is an excellent actor, and has hilarious comedic timing.”

Born Again is the newest film from the championship team at Hands Off Productions, whose past shorts include the hundred-fest crime drama A Way Out starring Bobby Costanzo (Total Recall, Die Hard 2), The Twilight-Zone-inspired I Owe You (Cinema Constant’s 2015 Indie Short of the Year) and their last hit horror-comedy, ‘Til Death (included in the anthology feature Seven Hells).

The short will have September advance screenings at select independent film events: Days of the Dead (Louisville, Sept. 2nd) Horror Hound (Indianapolis, Sept. 10th) and the Austin Revolution Film Festival (Sept. 20-24). It will also screen with cast and crew at the Nightmares Film Festival, being held at Gateway Film Center in Columbus, Ohio Oct. 20 to 23, before heading on to a festival circuit tour.
