An early Thanksgiving treat has arrived for Xenomorph fans to dig into. Although it was originally scheduled to come out on August 4th, 2017, Alien: Covenant now has an earlier release date that is featured on a new teaser poster for the film.
Unveiled on the official Facebook page for the Alien franchise, a new teaser poster warns moviegoers to "run" on May 19th (of 2017, as the caption for the post confirms), pushing up the release date of the film more than two months. The poster also features the gleaming dome, acidic saliva, and terrifying teeth of a Xenomorph.
A follow-up to 2012's Prometheus, Alien: Covenant is directed by Ridley Scott and features the return of Michael Fassbender as the android David.
The movie also stars Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice), Demián Bichir (The Bridge), Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down), Amy Seimetz (The Sacrament, You’re Next, A Horrible Way to Die), Jussie Smollett (Empire), Carmen Ejogo (The Purge: Anarchy), Callie Hernandez (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, Machete Kills), and Billy Crudup (Spotlight).
It was also previously reported that Noomi Rapace was spotted on the Alien: Covenant set in Australia, presumably to reprise her role as Elizabeth Shaw from Prometheus. Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more details.
The second of three planned Alien prequel films, Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant has the following synopsis:
Alien: Covenant synopsis: “Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”
