While Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters was originally set for release this March, we knew something was up when we haven't even seen a trailer yet. Paramount officially announced that the film is delayed and has given it a 2013 release date.

So when will we be able to see the movie? Currently, Paramount has slated Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters for January 11th, 2013. As for the reason behind the delay, it is believed that Paramount is holding off on the film in order to capitalize on Jeremy Renner's popularity after his appearance in The Avengers and The Bourne Legacy later this year. Paramount had success this January with The Devil Inside, so they are hoping that horror fans will show up next January as well.

Directed by Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow), Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters stars Jeremy Renner, Gemma Arterton, Peter Stormare and Famke Janssen. The movie has been described as “…a dark action movie that picks up with the fairy tale siblings years after the traumatic childhood incident has turned them into bounty hunters”.
