Now that us horror fans have to look past Halloween, there’s a certain sadness that sets in once we realize our favorite holiday is now 365 days away. But fear not! We have a bunch of great films coming to digital and VOD to get you through these dark times, including Joe Lynch’s Mayhem (which bows on November 10th, and it’s a film that I cannot recommend enough—so much fun!).
Other notable films hitting digital platforms throughout the month include Bad Match (on November 3rd), The Elf (on November 7th), Radius from Epic Pictures (November 10th), IFC Midnight’s Nails (November 17th), and the psychological thriller Woodshock rounds out the month’s releases on November 28th.
24 Hours to Live (Saban Films) – November 3rd on Ultra VOD
24 Hours to Live is a fast-paced action-packed movie about a career assassin (Ethan Hawke) who is given a chance at redemption after his employer brings him back to life temporarily after being killed on the job.
Bad Match (Gravitas Ventures) – November 3rd
Harris (Jack Cutmore-Scott, Dunkirk) seems to have it all – a great job, plenty of friends, and an active sex life thanks to a range of dating apps. But that all changes when he matches with Riley (Lili Simmons, “Hawaii Five-0”). Unlike Harris, Riley isn’t looking for a one-night stand; and while at first Harris just assumes she’s clingy, he’s about to find out the truth is something far more sinister.
Daguerrotype (Under the Milky Way) – November 7th
Jean (Tahar Rahim), a young Parisian with few skills and even fewer prospects, seems an unlikely candidate for assistant to famed photographer Stéphane (Olivier Gourmet), an obsessive perfectionist living in isolation since his wife’s unexpected death. Yet he soon finds himself in his new employer’s vast, decaying mansion, helping to create life-sized daguerreotypes so vivid they seem almost to contain some portion of their subjects’ souls.
Their model is most often Stéphane’s daughter and muse, Marie (Constance Rousseau), and as she and Jean fall in love they realize they must hatch a plot to leave Stéphane’s haunted world forever. But is there something malevolent within the massive daguerreotypes that will prevent their escape? From acclaimed Japanese master Kiyoshi Kurosawa (Creepy, Pulse), comes Daguerrotype, a classic ghost story bent through the lens of one of the most singular horror visionaries at work today.
The Elf (Uncork’d Entertainment) – November 7th
Nick is haunted by night terrors, stemming from a tragic murder he saw when he was young. After inheriting an old toy shop, he discovers a cursed elf doll sealed inside an ancient chest with a naughty list of his family’s names written on it. He soon discovers that the elf was an evil conduit, meant to unleash a supernatural killing spree during the Christmas Holidays by whomever set it free.
Ghastlies (Camp Motion Pictures) – November 7th
Three sorority sisters plan an initiation for their nerdy friend during a weekend getaway. Things don’t go exactly as planned when they accidentally stumble upon a craft containing a trio of extraterrestrial ghastly ghouls. Armed with only their boyfriends and brains, they resolve to send these pint-sized gatecrashers back to the edge of the universe – or die trying. Ghastlies is an exuberant homage to 1980s tiny critter movies, featuring a tubular electro-pop score.
Sightings (Octane Pictures) – November 7th
When former Sheriff and skeptic of the paranormal, Tom Mayfield (Boo Arnold), encounters three dead bodies on his TX ranch, he must enlist the help of his conspiracy-theorist brother-in-law (Rawn Erickson II), a local surveillance expert (Dante Basco), and a renowned cryptozoologist (Stephanie Drapeau), in order to uncover who or what is behind these mysterious events.
While being pursued by the local detective (Kevin Sizemore) as a lead suspect for these deaths, Tom is forced to reconsider his preconceived ideas of what lies beyond our planet. Ultimately, he must mend the estranged relationship with his daughter (Tahlia Morgan) and come to grips with the truth of his missing wife (Tiffany Heath), as he discovers the importance of community in survival and the belief in the unseen.
Spiderwebhouse (Uncork’d Entertainment) – November 7th
12-year-old Jonas confidently takes on the responsibility for his two younger siblings when his mother leaves them behind for a weekend away. He isolates himself and his siblings more and more and they start to drift away into their own fantastic world. But the weekend grows into weeks in which the three children hear nothing from their mother. Food and money have long since run out and the house has become more like a haunted castle.
I Remember You (IFC Midnight) – November 10th
An elderly woman hangs herself in a church. A grieving father searches for the truth about what happened to his missing son. And a trio of young city dwellers unleash a sinister force when they begin renovating a cursed home on a remote island. They don’t know it yet, but each of these strangers is connected by a disturbing, decades-old secret—a mystery that holds the key to a series of terrifying supernatural events. Based on the acclaimed novel by the “Queen of Icelandic Crime,” this atmospheric chiller is both a hair-raising ghost story and a powerful tale of life beyond death.
Mayhem (RLJE Entertainment) – November 10th
Derek Cho (Steven Yeun) is having a really bad day. After being unjustly fired from his job, he discovers that the law firm’s building is under quarantine for a mysterious and dangerous virus. Chaos erupts throughout the office as the victims of the disease begin acting out their wildest impulses. Joining forces with a former client (Samara Weaving) who has a grudge of her own, Derek savagely fights tooth and nail to get to the executives on the top floor and settle the score once and for all.
Radius (Epic Pictures Group) – November 10th
Liam (Diego Klattenhoff) wakes from a car crash at the bottom of a deep ditch with no memory of who he is. As he makes his way into town, he discovers that anyone who comes within a 50-foot radius of him dies instantly. Out of options, he tries to live in seclusion to protect others, until the day a woman comes up to him and doesn’t die in his presence. With her arrival, Liam's murderous power now seems to have subsided. The woman, Jane (Charlotte Sullivan), is also amnesiac and looking for answers. Together, they embark on a journey to uncover who they are and what happened to them on the night of the accident.
The Devil’s Whisper (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment/Vega Baby) – November 14th
15 year-old Alejandro Duran, who comes from a religious Latino American family, aspires to be a Catholic priest. But when Alex discovers a mysterious box passed down from his grandparents, he unwittingly unleashes a demonic spirit bent on possessing him. Alex must find a way to defeat this ancient demon, which has been tormenting children since the dawn of man, before it destroys him and everyone he loves. On the surface Devil’s Whisper is a supernatural horror film about demonic possession but at its core it’s a psychological thriller about repressed memories and childhood trauma.
Nails (IFC Midnight) – November 17th
Faced with skepticism from her husband, doctors and the staff, and believed to be suffering from a mental breakdown, Dana is left struggling to keep her grip on reality as the targeted attacks grow increasingly violent. To save her marriage and her life, Dana must find a way to convince her family that Nails is real before he succeeds in destroying her and everyone who stands in his way.
Blood Harvest (Wild Eye Releasing) – November 21st
A rural village is terrorized by an evil force that drains the blood from its victims. A discredited police detective, who believes the killings are the work of vampires, must team up with his former partner to uncover the truth.
Woodshock (Lionsgate) – November 28th
Golden Globe® nominee Kirsten Dunst stars as Theresa, a haunted young woman spiraling in the wake of profound loss, torn between her fractured emotional state and the reality-altering effects of a potent cannabinoid drug.
