There may be a holiday here in the States, but that doesn’t mean this week’s home media releases are taking any time off. In fact, we’ve got a bunch of great new titles and several cult classics coming our way on Tuesday. Scream Factory and IFC Midnight are teaming up on the recent indie horror projects Midnighters and The Cured, and Another WolfCop is coming home on both formats courtesy of RLJE Entertainment. And for those of you who have been patiently waiting, Arrow Video’s Limited Edition Blu for Wes Craven’s The Last House on the Left finally arrives this week as well.
Other notable releases for July 3rd include the reissue of Call Girl of Cthulhu, Primal Rage, Devilfish aka Monster Shark, The Jurassic Games, and The Lullaby.
Another WolfCop (RLJE Entertainment, Blu-ray & DVD)
A year has passed since the dark eclipse transformed hard-drinking Officer Lou Garou (Leo Fafard) into the infamous lycanthrope crime-fighter. Although the evil that controlled Woodhaven was defeated, the community is far from returning to normal. A villainous entrepreneur (Yannick Bisson) is looking to open a new brewery and revive the local hockey team, but it’s clear he has ulterior motives. With a new mayor (Kevin Smith) and the new chief of police (Amy Matysio), WolfCop has his work cut out for him when he has to save the town all over again.
Call Girl of Cthulhu (Pop Cinema, Blu/DVD Combo)
From the makers of WNUF HALLOWEEN SPECIAL comes one of the goriest, most hilarious H.P. Lovecraft tributes to ever splatter the screen. Carter Wilcox (David Phillip Carollo) is a struggling artist who's been saving his virginity for someone special. When he meets the enchanting escort Riley Whatley (Melissa O'Brien), he believes he's found the one. Unfortunately, she's also ''someone special'' to an ancient cult that believes she is the chosen bride of its alien god, Cthulhu. Forced to mate with the tentacled deity, Riley becomes a vessel for the spawn that will destroy mankind. Now, Carter and his noise musician roommate, Erica Zann (Nicolette le Faye), must battle the sinister cult and unimaginable creatures to save Riley... and the rest of humanity. Will they save the world or surrender to the slimy grip of the Great Old Ones?
Devilfish aka Monster Shark (Code Red, Blu-ray & DVD)
The ocean depths unleash a bloodthirsty monstrosity in this cult classic monster favorite from Italy! A marine biologist (Michael Sopkiw, Blastfighter), a dolphin trainer (Valentine Monnier, After The Fall Of New York), a research scientist, and a local sheriff (John Garko, The Psychic) try to hunt down a large sea monster, a shark/octopus hybrid, that’s devouring swimmers and fishermen off a south Florida coast. Also starring William Berger (Sabata) and featuring a score by Fabio Frizzi (The Beyond), this aquatic nightmare was directed by Lamberto Bava (Demons) and co-written by Luigi Cozzi (Star Crash) and Sergio Martino (Hands of Steel) -- and now you can see it bigger and bloodier than ever in a new HD scan.

The Last House on the Left: Limited Edition (Arrow Video, Blu-ray)
MARI, SEVENTEEN, IS DYING. EVEN FOR HER THE WORST IS YET TO COME! The directorial debut of Wes Craven, the man behind such horror favorites as A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Hills Have Eyes and Scream, The Last House on the Left justly retains its reputation as one of the most harrowing cinematic experiences of all time, nearly half a century on from its original release.
On the eve of her 17th birthday, Mari and friend Phyllis set off from her family home to the big city to attend a concert by shock-rockers Bloodlust. Attempting to pick up some marijuana on the way, the pair run afoul of a group of vicious crooks, headed up by the sadistic and depraved Krug (David Hess). Gagged and bound, the young women are bundled into a car trunk and driven to the woods, where the gang subject them to a terrifying ordeal of sexual humiliation, torture and murder.
Unleashed on an unsuspecting public in 1972, The Last House on the Left shocked audiences with its graphic and unflinching portrayal of interpersonal violence, paving the way for a whole host of cheap imitators looking to capitalize on its success. It is Wes Craven's original alone, however, that remains one of the true watershed moments in horror (and indeed, film) history.
