We are sad to report that Ernest Borgnine passed away today at the age of 95. According to his spokesman Harry Flynn, Borgnine passed at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with his family by his side.

The acting veteran was known for such movies as From Here to Eternity, The Wild Bunch, and The Dirty Dozen. He also had dozens of TV appearances, including a 138-episode run on McHale's Navy. In 1955, Ernest Borgnine earned a Best Actor Academy Award for his role in Marty.

On the genre side of things, Borgnine has roles in Willard, Deadly BlessingThe Devil's Rain, and Gattaca, but I'll always remember him as Cabbie in one of my favorite films, Escape From New York. Our thoughts are with Ernest Borgnine's friends and family. There are many that will miss him, but he has left behind an impressive body of work that will be enjoyed for generations to come.
