Synevir 3D: "Red Sea Media releases the poster art for one of its many upcoming horror titles,  Alexander Alyoshechkin’s  ‘Synevir 3D,’ an eerie film being coined “the Ukrainian Big Foot,” set in a historical location.  Lake Synevir, a famous lake in the Carpathian mountains of Ukraine, is known for its rich history throughout hundreds of years as a place of mystical, unexplained events.  The film follows a group of skeptical students who decide to disregard the stories of strange creatures around the famous lake, and spend the weekend there.  They shouldn’t have.  

The film marks the highly anticipated directorial debut for Alyoshechkin, who also wrote the screenplay, and stars Sergei Romanyuk, E. Morozov and Igor Slavinsky.  The film is rumored for an early 2013 release, exact date to be announced soon, along with a trailer and first stills. "

Indie Interview with Marilyn Ghigliotti

So Marilyn, when did you first really get into horror movies?

I’ve always been a horror/sci-fi movie enthusiast. I can remember growing up with Chiller Theater and a lot of sci-fi stuff. I honestly I can’t remember if it’s anything that my parents allowed us to see, but I can just remember always watching that stuff growing up. I really enjoyed it.

Is there one horror movie that you have seen that has terrified you from not being able to sleep?

Growing up, it was either A Nightmare on Elm Street and Hellraiser. With Freddy Krueger it was scary going to sleep because I did have those kinds of nightmares. I used to have nightmares like that all of the time, but I would tell myself I was just dreaming while I was asleep and I would be ok afterwards.

After watching A Nightmare on Elm Street, was there a recurring nightmare you used to have?

It would be the yelling. Where something is going on and you are trying to scream and nothing comes out. I don’t like that one at all or the dream with my teeth falling out.

What projects have you been involved in lately?

For the past six years, I have been doing the convention circuit and through that I have gotten to know quite a few people. A couple of years ago, I got involved in doing a Podcast and got to know a lot more people.

One person I met was Neil Johnson, who is the writer and director of Alien Armageddon. I got to work on that behind-the-scenes and in front of the camera. There are some other projects up in the air, but until funding happens, we can’t do it. I am still doing the convention circuit and I’ve got all of October booked, so it is going to be crazy with conventions. Every weekend I will be out at a convention and I have a few lined up for next year as well.

With being at a lot of Comic Book conventions, I have to ask: If you could have one super power, what would it be?

Growing up, and I know there were many of us that did this, it was either blinking of the eyes or the I Dream of Genie head nod. Right now, I think it would have to be able to have the ability to be at a place with the blinking of the eye especially in LA with the traffic. Now, flying sounds really good and all, but being able to transport yourself at anytime would be nice.

You told me previously that you were into photography. Can you tell me more about that?

A couple of years ago, I decided to get a semi-professional camera. With being an actress, I already know how to do hair and makeup so I thought headshots were an ideal thing. By going through all of this, I created my own type of technique and look at it as being the director and not the photographer. Basically, I want them to tell me what characters they go out for and what type of characters their agent sends them out for and to see who they see themselves as.

A lot of people have a hard time answer those types of questions. If you don’t know that then how are you going to get hired? Other things I have found out via acting classes are archetype and I tell them to come dressed as that character and come with a monologue or scene prepared in their head. Once they are thinking about it, they are visualizing it and that is when it connects. Actors are trained to not look at the camera, but during the photo shoot I need them to look at the camera. Actually, not look at it, but through it.

Any other words of advice for those trying to get into the acting business?

First, you have to know if it is your passion or not. If you are just doing it for the money, forget about it because there isn’t any [laughs]. Also, know and learn everything there is to know about it. You have to be open with people and with your emotions and just let go and not be in your head. Know what you must do on set and off set. There is just so much you have to know and I don’t think you need to have a college degree to do it because you can get so much of this information elsewhere.
