FilmDistrict continues their genre production push, and has announced that it will co-finance the supernatural horror movie The Last Word:

"Based on actual events, the horror film will focus on the strange and tragic aftermath endured by the participants in the trial of a young man in Texas who was wrongly convicted and executed for the rape and murder of a nun.

[Frank Mancuso, Jr.] ...added, “’Based on a true story’ has been overused as a marketing ploy however this film will scorch an indelible imprint on those who see it. The powerful words of this dying man will never be forgotten.”

Boss Media’s Frank Mancuso, Jr. will produce the project along with Eric Gores, Peter Facinelli and Rob DeFranco of A7SLE Films, and Peter Schlessel and Lia Buman on behalf of FilmDistrict. The project is slated to commence production this summer with plans for FilmDistrict to release the film domestically in 2014."

FilmDistrict was involved with Insidious and Evil Dead, and has Insidious Chapter 2 and Oldboy coming up later this year.
