Last summer, it was reported that MTV was developing a TV series based on the Scream franchise, but we haven't heard anything since. It has now been revealed that MTV has greenlighted the project and ordered a pilot episode.

According to THR, Dimension Films will be producing the pilot with MTV, and they are currently talking to Wes Craven about directing. Provided the pilot is successful and MTV gives a Scream TV series a full season order, the plan is to begin airing the series in summer 2014.

This is another early announcement, so stay tuned for additional details. Right now, a search has started for a writer to take on the one-hour pilot and we'll report back as soon as more information becomes available.
