Prometheus Sequel Gets New Writer?

Talk of a Prometheus sequel was going on before the first movie was released. While the box office performance didn't merit Fox moving forward with a sequel immediately, $403 million worldwide was enough to explore their options. According to a new report, they're taking the first step in getting Prometheus 2 off the ground.

Jack Paglen is the man Fox will task with continuing Ridley Scott's new adventure in the Alien universe. Deadline reports that Paglen is currently in negotiations to write the script for Prometheus 2. Previously, he wrote the sci-fi script Transcendence, which is being directed by Wally Pfister for Warner Bros. and will star Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany and Kate Mara.

Presumably, the movie will follow up on the events of Prometheus, but little about the story is known at this point. It was said previously that some of the surviving cast members are signed on for a sequel and will return. Ridley Scott has also expressed an interested in returning to directing, but he's only on as a producer at this point. It's probably going to be a while before we hear anything new, but we'll keep readers posted on any developments.
