We were first in line to check out the Godzilla Encounter at San Diego yesterday, where fans are treated to a early look at the newly designed Godzilla. While we're not going to ruin the surprise, we do have photos from the first segment of the event, along with a brand new poster.

The beginning of the Godzilla Encounter plays out like a museum tour. As you can see below, there is the full suit seen in Godzilla 2000, a prop from the very first Godzilla movie, and a number of collectibles. The tour is cut short when the new Godzilla decides to make an appearance and you're treated to a fun, interactive show that brings you and Godzilla face-to-face.

If you're at Comic-Con this week, we strongly suggest making the trip to check it out. Online ticket reservations are no longer available, but you can pick up a pass at the Legendary booth on the show floor. A brand new poster for Godzilla was also revealed and we've included it below. More details on the movie will be available after the panel and press conference this weekend.

“An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Gareth Edwards directs Godzilla, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, and Juliette Binoche, with David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston. The screenplay is by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont, and Dave Callaham. Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing with Mary Parent and Brian Rogers. Alex Garcia and Patricia Whitcher are the executive producers, alongside Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira.”

The Godzilla panel will take place at Comic-Con’s large Hall H room, but seating is very limited. If you want a good chance of getting into Hall H, you should be in line well before 7:00am. The Legendary/Warner Bros. presentation that includes Godzilla takes place from 10:45am – 1:15pm.

Godzilla will be released to US theaters on May 16th, 2014 and is expected to be presented in 3D. While Warner Bros. will be handling most of the worldwide rollout, Toho will be taking over for the Japanese release. To get involved with the Godzilla Encounter, visit:
