While many know Gia Allemand from the Bachelor, our readers should remember her as part of the Ghost Trek webseries that we've featured regularly in our Indie Spotlight. We're sad to report that Gia Allemand was taken off life support earlier today.

Gia Allemand was taken to the hospital in critical condition on Monday night and it is being reported that her injuries were the result of a suicide attempt:

via E!: "The 29-year-old former Bachelor star, who was taken off of life support earlier today, died after losing critical brain and organ function following an apparent suicide attempt, according to Allemand's rep, who released a statement on behalf of her family."

Allemand "passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other life-long friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites," the rep's statement continued.

"Loved ones and fans will remember Gia Allemand as a caring woman who loved her family and was well-known for her compassion towards animals and mission to rescue homeless pets. Funeral arrangements will be forthcoming in another official statement once available. On behalf of the family, we sincerely ask for privacy at this time."

Our thoughts are with Gia's friends and family during this tough time. If you believe that someone is contemplating suicide or have these feelings yourself, please talk to someone and seek help. For information on the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, visit:
