Now that the 50th Anniversary special has aired, everyone is focusing their attention on the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special. The official title has just been revealed as The Time of the Doctor and we have new details, along with a new teaser image.

The Christmas special will be the last episode for the current Doctor, played by Matt Smith, and it will be our first good look at the new Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi. Of course, everyone involved in the series has been tight-lipped about what's going to happen, but we do have the official synopsis:

"Clara and The Doctor must go to a quiet backwater planet in order to learn what some strange signals mean for his very last existence."

The Time of the Doctor will air on December 25th and make sure to check your local listings for the specific time. We've also included a brief teaser video below that played after the 50th Anniversary special. Based on the teaser image and trailer, this special looks to be filled with some of the Doctor's biggest adversaries, including theĀ Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, and The Silence
