Matt Smith's run as the Doctor is coming to an end two weeks from now with his appearance in this year's Christmas special. Titled Time of the Doctor, this special will also be our first good look at the new Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi. We've updated our photo gallery and have the brand new trailer released by BBC.

In the UK, The Time of the Doctor will premiere at 7:30 pm on BBC One on December 25th. In the US, BBC America will air the special at 9:00 pm. For all other countries, make sure to check your local listings for the specific air time.

Based on the teaser images and trailer, this special looks to be filled with some of the Doctor's biggest adversaries, including the Daleks, Cybermen, Weeping Angels, and The Silence. There are also some Easter eggs embedded into both promo images, so look closely.

"Clara and The Doctor must go to a quiet backwater planet in order to learn what some strange signals mean for his very last existence."
