It looks like there will be more than just one group of people to call if you're being harassed by paranormal entities. Just a little over one month after the core female cast and release date for Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot were announced, it's now been revealed that another Ghostbusters movie is in the works at Sony Pictures, with a core cast that could include Channing Tatum. The project is being developed at Sony's new production company that's appropriately called Ghostcorps and—perhaps even more fittingly—is headed by Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd, the director and co-writer/star of the original Ghostbusters films. Additionally, Sony personnel already have eyes on who they want behind the camera: the brothers who helmed Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Deadline reports this latest ectoplasm-covered news, revealing that Reitman is looking to Joe and Anthony Russo to direct and produce the new Ghostbusters movie. Though the directing duo is in the running to take the directing torch from Joss Whedon for Avengers: Infinity War - Part I and Part II, they also recently signed a first-look deal with Sony, so they have close ties to both camps.

Drew Pearce (Mission: Impossible 5, Iron Man 3), who pitched this new Ghostbusters film, is lined up to scribe the screenplay. Along with Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan, Channing Tatum is attached to produce this Ghostbusters project. It's also very possible that Tatum could star as one of the members of this new Ghostbusters team, but his involvement on that front is far from confirmed at this point.

Reitman hopes that cameras will start rolling on this new Ghostbusters film by next summer, which would be an open time slot for the Russo brothers. Along with Aykroyd, Reitman has lofty and expansive ambitions for Ghostcorps, with Ghostbusters "films, TV shows, merchandise" and more on the planning platter.

In the meantime, Sony's other Ghostbusters reboot features an all-female core cast consisting of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Co-written by Paul Feig and Katie Dippold and with Feig in the director's chair, that Ghostbusters film is slated to hit theaters on July 22nd, 2016.

This just announced Ghostbusters film looks to be the first step in expanding the Ghostbusters universe in a similar style to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Reitman told Deadline that this recently revealed Ghostbusters film "has a wonderful idea that builds on that [Feig's Ghostbusters film]." Keep your proton packs at the ready and stay tuned to Daily Dead for further updates on this potential new entry to the Ghostbusters lineup.
