Horror fans recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of Joss Whedon's groundbreaking TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so it's rather fitting that ComiXology Unlimited's new April additions include volumes 1 and 2 (also available as individual issues #1–10) of Dark Horse Comics' Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 9—one of many comic book titles that Daily Dead can reveal as a new addition to the digital comics subscription service.

Other comic books coming to ComiXology Unlimited this month include Garth Ennis' Complete Battlefields Vol. 1-2, Hellboy Vol. 8 and issues #1-#6, volume 3 of Todd McFarlane's Spawn Origins Collection, and several 25th anniversary editions of popular Image Comics titles.

You can read the full list of new additions to ComiXology Unlimited below, as well as a list of what's leaving the digital platform this month. As a special treat for Daily Dead readers, we also have preview pages from Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 9 Vol. 1: Freefall that shows how Buffy's life has changed after magic is removed from her world.

To learn more about ComiXology Unlimited, visit:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 9 Vol. 1: Freefall: "Season 8 ended with a bang that cut the world off from magic culminating in another set of world-ending problems. Buffy has left her best friend, Willow, powerless, and brought an end to a millennia-long tradition of superpowered girls. By day, Buffy is a twenty-something waitress with no real direction, and even though magic is gone, she is still a vampire Slayer by night. Bigger problem? Vampires are becoming an epidemic... of zompires! Collects Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 9 #1 - #5. Written by series creator Joss Whedon and Andrew Chambliss of ABC's One Upon a Time!"

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 9 Vol. 2: On Your Own: "With the Scooby gang on the skids, Buffy finds herself increasingly alone. When faced with some tough decisions grounded in "real world" problems (i.e., not the slaying of pesky demons), Buffy is determined to make her own choices, but that doesn't mean she won't need a little handholding along the way. Cue Spike, compelled to stand by his best friend in her moment of need. Together they'll tackle the increasing zompire population and a rogue Slayer out for blood. Collects Buffy Season 9 #6–#10; and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: In Space No One Can Hear You Slay!" from Free Comic Book Day 2012."

About the Author - Derek Anderson

Raised on a steady diet of R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps books and Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Derek has been fascinated with fear since he first saw ForeverWare being used on an episode of Eerie, Indiana.

When he’s not writing about horror as the Senior News Reporter for Daily Dead, Derek can be found daydreaming about the Santa Carla Boardwalk from The Lost Boys or reading Stephen King and Brian Keene novels.
