Following the recent confirmation that John Krasinski will direct (in addition to writing) the sequel to A Quiet Place (which earned more than $330 million at the box office worldwide with a production budget of $17 million), it's now been revealed that Cillian Murphy (Red Eye, 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Dunkirk) is in negotiations to join the follow-up film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cillian Murphy is in discussions to join the cast of the sequel to A Quiet Place, which is expected to feature Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe reprising their roles from the first film as a family trying to survive creatures that hunt strictly by sound in a deadly post-apocalypse.
According to THR's sources, Murphy would play "a man with mysterious intentions who joins the family unit."
The Platinum Dunes trio of Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, and Michael Bay will also return to produce the sequel, which is slated for a May 15th, 2020 release date from Paramount Pictures. Filming on the sequel is ramping up for this summer.
Further plot details for the new film have yet to be revealed, and Blunt even previously mentioned how it would be interesting to do a prequel, but not much story-wise has been confirmed at this time.
