All month long, we've been celebrating the "Class of 88" with in-depth interviews and retrospectives on some of our favorite horror and sci-fi movies released 30 years ago. One of the most memorable movies to come out in 1988 was John Carpenter's They Live, and we're going to "obey" the Master of Horror's timeless horror sci-fi film this Sunday with a live tweet-along that we want Daily Dead readers and Corpse Club listeners to take part in!
The Daily Dead and Corpse Club team will begin watching They Live at 9:00pm EST on Sunday, July 29th. To join our live tweet-along, simply use the hashtag #NadaLives when you tweet!
For those unfamiliar with They Live (starring "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, Keith David, and Meg Foster), we have the official synopsis and trailer below, and in case you missed it, visit our Class of 88 hub for all of our retrospectives, interviews, and ’88-themed Corpse Club episodes, including Patrick Bromley's insightful examination of the modern-day relevance of They Live.
We look forward to watching and tweeting about They Live with you on Sunday, and in the meantime, make sure you'll have plenty of bubblegum and your favorite pair of sunglasses within reach...
Synopsis (via Scream Factory): "They influence our decisions without us knowing it. They numb our senses without us feeling it. They control our lives without us realizing it. They Live.
Horror master John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing) directs this heart-pounding thriller in which aliens are systematically gaining control of the Earth by masquerading as humans and lulling the public into submission. Humanity's last chance lies with a lone drifter who stumbles upon a harrowing discovery — a unique pair of sunglasses that reveals the terrifying and deadly truth."
