Primarily known for his comedic roles, Danny McBride is in early talks to join the cast of Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant.

The news of McBride's potential Alien: Covenant casting comes from TheWrap, who report that the actor is in "early discussions" for a co-starring role in the film.

McBride is well-known for his scene-stealing humor in films such as This Is the End, Pineapple Express, and Hot Rod, as well as his portrayal of Kenny Powers in the TV series Eastbound & Down. It's not known what type of character McBride would play in the new Alien movie, but we'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on further details as they surface.

If McBride gets the co-starring gig, he would join current Alien: Covenant cast members Katherine Waterston and Michael Fassbender, who will reprise his role as the android David from Prometheus. Fox will release Alien: Covenant in theaters on October 6th, 2017.

"Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS -- and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition."
