Looking to take gamers into the world of Alien in the year 2183 AD, Free League Publishing and Twentieth Century Fox are working on a rulebook for a new Alien tabletop role-playing game. The game will be featured at Gen Con from August 1st–4th, where players will be able to preview Hope's Last Day, a cinematic mini-scenario written by Dave Semark:

"That's it, man. Game over, man. Game over!"

Hello! This is the ninth official newsletter for the upcoming ALIEN tabletop RPG by Free League Publishing and Twentieth Century Fox.

We're sorry for the radio silence recently. The reason isn't that nothing is happening - quite the opposite in fact! We have been working very hard at completing the first full and laid-out version of the rulebook - and it going to be massive! We're looking at no less than 392 pages of horror and action in outer space, giving you all the material you need to fully explore the world of 2183 AD. We don't feel that a thick rulebook is a goal in itself - in fact, we originally aimed for closer to 300 pages - but there is simply so much great art and text that we don't want to cut any more of it out (yes, we did already cut some smaller elements that will appear in later modules instead).

Next, the PDF will be reviewed by Twentieth Century Fox while further final proofing and polish continues at our end, while we also work on the ancillary products like the custom dice, cards, GM screen, maps, and markers. After that, it's time for printing and shipping, so that we in November can send the game to everyone who pre-ordered it.

Remember - the exclusive pre-order at ALIEN-RPG.COM ends on August 4, less than three weeks from today! When you pre-order, you get access to a 168-page Cinematic Starter Kit PDF including a complete cinematic scenario within days after purchase and can start playing immediately.

The end of the pre-order coincides with Gen Con, the largest gathering of tabletop gamers in North America, in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Aug 1-4. You are very welcome to the Free League booth (#2664) to say hi and discuss all things ALIEN with the design team!

At Gen Con, you will also be able to try the game out - with the help of our awesome GMs, we will be running no less than 32 sessions of Hope's Last Day, a Cinematic mini-scenario written by Dave Semark. The event is not yet live on the Gen Con website, but it should be soon.

Hope's Last Day is not a full Cinematic scenario like Chariot of the Gods (included in the Starter Kit PDF). Instead, it encompasses what would normally be the third and final Act of a three-Act Cinematic scenario, and can be played in less than two hours to give a brief but intense taste of Cinematic gameplay. The scenario is planned to be included as an introductory scenario in the final rulebook.

At Gen Con, you'll also have the chance to check out our other RPGs Forbidden Lands, Mutant: Year Zero, Tales from the Loop, Symbaroum and Coriolis. At Gen Con, we will officially release the Crusader Kings Board Game and the Mutant: Elyisum, the third stand-alone expansion to Mutant: Year Zero.

PS. The vote is now open for the 2019 ENnie Awards, the "Oscars" of the tabletop RPG industry. Free League games and modules have received no less than nine nominations (including Product of the Year, Best Setting and Best Rules for Forbidden Lands) - if you like our games, we'd be delighted if you gave us your vote! Voting ends on July 21, and results are announced at Gen Con on August 2."
