We've heard about the next installment of Halloween moving forward over since 2009, but a number of attempts to get the popular masked killer back on the big screen have fallen through. It's been a while since we've heard anything, but a new announcement hints that Michael Myers could make his return in the very near future.

Brad Miska originally confirmed that The Weinstein Company was talking Halloween 3 at Cannes and the official Halloween website has confirmed that the project is once again moving forward:

“As we stated before, we are dedicated to the fans of the Halloween series just as much as we are dedicated to delivering a film that we believe the fans deserve and will, most importantly, love. With that being said, we can confirm that a new installment of Halloween is indeed in on track and moving forward. We are currently developing a script, to finally bring Michael back to the theaters!”

At one time it looked very likely that Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer team up for Halloween 3D, but that project never moved ahead. It's unknown who is being looked at to write and direct, or if this installment will tie into Rob Zombie's movies, but we'll keep readers posted on any developments.
