In today's Horror Highlights, we have release details for Asylum of Darkness and Chupacabra Territory, a new poster for Hounds of Love, details on Ghost Brothers moving to Destination America, acquisition info on Red Christmas, and details on MondoCon 2017.

Asylum of Darkness: "'Wild Eye Releasing unlocks the doors to award-winning filmmaker Jay Woelfel's supernatural horror feature Asylum of Darkness this April.

Woelfel’s stirring cocktail of supernatural suspense and goosebump-inducing horror features a superlative cast of sci-fi and horror icons including Golden Globe nominee Richard Hatch (Battlestar Galactica), in one his final film appearances.

Tim Thomerson (Trancers, Near Dark, Nemesis) and Tiffany Shepis (12 Monkeys, Tromeo and Juliet, Tales of Halloween) also star in the movie, a striking, spine-tingling horror jaunt, shot in 35mm, that resembles the works of genre icons Lynch and Cronenberg.

After awakening in a mental asylum, a patient plans his escape to freedom while fighting off supernatural forces in both the real world, and some that may only live inside his head. But once on the outside, he learns that the life awaiting him is more twisted and dangerous than anything he could conjur in his head, one that is luring him back to the asylum forever.

Written and directed by Jay Woelfel (Season of Darkness, Trancers 6), the film stars Golden Globe Winner Richard Hatch (Dr. Shaker), Tim Thomerson (Detective Kesler), Tiffany Shepis (Hope), Nick Baldasare (Dwight Stroud), Amanda Howell (Ellen), and Frank Jones Jr. (Van Gogh).

In Theaters and on VOD April 11th 2017

The Great House of Rose Hall in Montego Bay, Jamaica entices the Ghost Brothers to investigate claims that the spirit of a former owner, Annie Palmer haunts a long closed sugar plantation. Annie Palmer, or as locals refer to her as the White Witch of Rose Hall, is believed to have been a sadistic monster who brutally murdered her three husbands, practiced dark voodoo and tortured her slaves. The White Witch was eventually killed by a powerful voodoo priest but according to witnesses, the spirit of Annie Palmer and her victims have never left Rose Hall. Her body is still buried on the property causing many locals and visitors to believe that the White Witch has forever cursed the mansion- as pure evil never dies. The Ghost Brothers are on a mission to find out if the White Witch and those she murdered still reside at the property.

“Cocke County Memorial Building” premieres Friday, April 28 at 10/9c on Destination America

Originally: April 14

The Cocke County Memorial Building in Newport, Tennessee entices the Ghost Brothers to investigate claims of unsettled spirits that may still be lingering after they died in a plane crash in 1964 and were then kept in this building. Body parts of thirty-nine victims of the plane crash were housed in this makeshift morgue, including four blood doctors who were on board heading to a conference. The doctors' documents were mysteriously confiscated from the crash site by the FBI and the information taken was never disclosed to the public. After hearing stories of apparitions and a dark energy that has caused visitors to turn on each other, the Ghost Brothersare on a mission to reach the victims and find out what really caused their plane to inexplicably blow up and disintegrate in midair.

Visitors report having strange experiences that include seeing apparitions of children, shadow figures and some even claim to have been pushed by an unseen force. Some believe that the cause of the hauntings is connected to a horrific train accident that occurred nearby in 1910. Prior to the school's construction on this property, train crash victims were laid out on the site where the school is currently built. TheGhost Brothers' mission is to try to determine who or what is haunting the school and if it's possible that the train victims have remained to tell their story.

“House of Wills” premieres Friday, May 12 at 10/9c on Destination America

Originally: April 28

The House of Wills, a former funeral home in Cleveland, Ohio, catches the attention of the Ghost Brothers. Built in the early 1900's as a Masonic temple, it was designed with elements to trap energy of those who came through it. It was later bought by a successful African-American businessman, John Walter Wills, who turned it into a thriving funeral home business. After his death the building fell into disrepair and people claimed to see apparitions and experience a malevolent energy roaming the building. The GhostBrothers are on a mission to get answers and find out who or what could be behind the activity, and to find out if it's connected to those who had funerals here, Mr. Wills or something else."

Artsploitation Films Acquires US Rights to Red Christmas: Press Release: "April 5, 2017: Artsploitation Films has acquired US rights from international sales agent Devilworks for the Australian horror film Red Christmas directed by veteran television director/producer Craig Anderson. The dark, violent and sickly twisted tale had its World Premiere at the Sydney Film Festival, its North American Premiere at Fantasia Festival and its European Premiere at London's Frightfest.

The film stars (and was co-produced by) horror film acting legend, Dee Wallace (The Hills Have Eyes, The Howling, E.T., Cujo, Critters, Halloween,The Lords of Salem) as the mother of a squabbling family, gathered together in a remote Outback estate on Christmas Eve. When a mysterious, deformed young man named Cletus appears at their door, things soon go from petty insults to bloody, imaginatively orchestrated violence as Wallace attempts to protect her family from the vengeful intruder. The film deliriously infuses comedy, dark family secrets with outlandish gore and adds the always controversial subject of abortion in its blood-stained mix.

Artsploitation Films president Ray Murray says, "We are excited to release this over-the-top, deliriously entertaining genre film. With its odd anti-abortion angle, it could very well be the first horror film of the Trump era!" Devilworks president Matteo Rolleri remarks, "’We are thrilled to be working with Artsploitation and couldn’t think of anyone better to release such a striking exploitation film! Red Christmas sits among the classics; it is kinetic, untamed and saturated in gore.’’"
