A Ghosthouse remake is in the works! Umberto Lenzi's 1988 film is being revived by Dustin Ferguson (Sleepaway Camp IV) and will begin shooting soon in LA. Also: a Q&A with Party Bus to Hell's Richard Hochman, Shriekfest 2018's call for submissions, The Rake's DVD debut, an untitled movie from 1inMM Productions, and a new Amityville installment, titled Amityville Toybox.

Ghosthouse Remake Details: Press Release: "Dustin Ferguson, Director of "Nemesis 5" and Editor of "Sleepaway Camp IV" recently launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise initial funds for production on "Ghosthouse". Ferguson's company SoCal Cinema Studios is Producing, based on a script by Mike Reeb ("Nemesis 5") and Jason Harlow ("Another Evil Night").

The film is a remake of the 1988 Italian cult classic by Director Umberto Lenzi (“Cannibal Ferox”, “Spasmo”, “Eaten Alive!”) and will begin filming this Autumn in Los Angeles. It's set to star Paul Taylor ("Pinhead" from "Hellraiser: Judgment") with Special F/X by Joe Castro ("Wishmaster 3 & 4") and music by Justin Apone ("The Toolbox Murders 2").

The remake follows a group of college kids who follow a mysterious broadcast on an old television set to an abandoned (and obviously haunted) house in the woods. Ectoplasm pits, flying objects, ghostly apparitions and the Grim Reaper himself are only a few of the horrors that await them inside!

Ferguson is finalizing the details with rights holders Film Export Group now, so expect to hear a lot more about this project soon! In the meantime, check out the brand new official Poster art and Indiegogo link below! They have perks that range from a DVD copy of the finished flick to an actual role in the movie!

Dustin has a reputation for resurrecting the franchises of yesteryear with his unique blend of camp and horror and “Ghosthouse” may be the perfect fit for a Ferguson interpretation.

Bus Party to Hell Q&A: "With Bus Party to Hell rolling into theaters this week, we managed to catch up with one of the passengers, Richard Hochman, before the trip embarks!

“Bus Party to Hell” obviously includes a bus. How long were you stuck on the bus with those ladies, Richard?

Richard Hochman: Ha! I had the privilege of their company for about 10 shooting days on the bus.

You have model looks - -  did that help in getting you cast as the hunky hero?

Richard Hochman: You’re very kind, thank you, first of all. To be honest, when auditioning for this “type” of role, all the guys I’m competing with are good looking men, so I hope at the end of the day, the producers chose me on my audition performance.

Could you relate to your character’s arc?

Richard Hochman: I think during emergency or panic situations, I was raised to stay calm and try to keep others calm around me, so when the situation in the film turns into life-threatening, the character I play zones in on taking control and getting everyone on the same page.

It looks like you can handle yourself in a fight with any sadistic cult member – but did the producers have you undertake any type of training, anyway?

Richard Hochman: I actually have 10 years of various martial arts training and was a gymnast as a teenager, so fight choreography was an easy leap for the film. I was asking the stunt coordinator for more complex fight sequences!

What was the best thing that came out of “Bus Party to Hell”?

Richard Hochman: Knocking “lead in a horror film” off my actor bucket list. It’s very intense to shoot a horror film, and it’s also challenging to shoot an independent film on a bus! The whole shoot was a team effort, from the crew, cast, and producers, and I just played my part, as an actor and as part of the team."

Amityville Toybox First Production Details: Press Release: "Atmosfear Films, a horror film production company based out of the Thumb region of Michigan has announced their first feature-length horror film, the newest installment, not sequel, but installment in the long-running cult horror movie series, Amityville Toybox. The story for the terrifying new film is described as:

"Elise Carson, along with her husband Walt, and two kids, Mia and Connor, have moved away from the city life and into the country where they have bought a farmhouse. At first, the country life seems perfect and they cannot figure out why they didn't move away sooner. However, when young Mia discovers an old steamer trunk in the barn full of creepy old toys, soon, evil begins to rear its ugly head. A terrifying discovery leads Elise to discover the origins of the trunk and the former owners of the farmhouse's dark secret."

Amityville Toybox was written by Atmosfear Film's head psycho, Chris Whitworth, which is based on an idea from his longtime friend, Sal N.V. Sagev. Sagev, a longtime fan of the ever-growing Amityville series of films, came up with the idea while watching killer toy, puppet, and doll films one weekend.

Filming began outside of Flint, Michigan on Sunday, May 22nd and while the film does not rely on the modern horror film staples of blood, breasts, and gore, Atmosfear Films assures that the creepiness of the film is maxed out. The mother of the actor who plays the son in the film was actually very creeped out when she and her husband read the script.

Production is set to wrap up in late June and early July with a national DVD release later in 2018 or spring 2019. Amityville Toybox is just one of several films that they are working on. They do plan on shooting one more film in 2018 after Amityville Toybox wraps production in the summer. Expect a trailer for the July 4th weekend!"
