Kill, Baby...Kill!

Mario Bava, 1966, Italy, 83m

In a fin-de-siècle Transylvanian village, a doctor arrives to investigate a young maid’s mysterious death, only to learn the legend of a deceased girl whose ball-bouncing ghost may be driving the locals to suicide… With its hallucinatory colors and sinister moods, this is the pinnacle of gothic Euro-horror, an influence on Scorsese, Lynch, Fellini, Argento, del Toro, and countless others, and the ideal entry point into one of the great bodies of work in the Italian cinema. Restoration courtesy of Kino Lorber.

The Bad Batch Vinyl Soundtrack Release Details: Press Release: "Death Waltz Recording Co., in conjunction with Lakeshore Records is proud to present the soundtrack to THE BAD BATCH, the sophomore film from Ana Lily Amripor, and we are thrilled to continue our relationship with her after championing her debut A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT.

As with her debut, music is an essential ingredient throughout THE BAD BATCH and it more than lives up to its predecessors killer soundtrack. This time interspersed throughout the songs are lines of dialog from the film creating a truly immersive listening experience. The songs themselves run from bona fide pop bangers (Ace Of Base & Culture Club) cutting edge techno/electro (Black Light Smoke & Path Du Prince) shimmering electronica (Darkside/Chilled By Nature) through to the classic spaghetti stylings of Death Waltz's own Federale.

The package is rounded out with die-cut artwork by Jay Shaw, who did such a killer job on the A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT record packaging, that it was no brainer we bring him back for this psychedelic mind-expanding record.

Andrea von Foerster (Music Supervisor):

"Working with a director who truly loves music is an absolute gift," said music supervisor Andrea von Foerster. "Being able to talk about independent artists and labels with the same reverence as top 40 pop hits makes my heart beat faster."

"Lily Amirpour has a cinematic vision that begins and ends with music," Foerster explained. "Going on the journey with her to facilitate that vision was awesome. She knows what she wants but is simultaneously open to new ideas. Exploring electronic tracks from sometimes lesser-known artists to flesh out our dystopian world while hunting for the perfect 80's and 90's pop songs to play under amputations made for very amusing phone calls to publishers and labels. It's impossible to not feel our collective love of music in this film."

About the Author - Tamika Jones

Tamika hails from North Beach, Maryland, a tiny town inches from the Chesapeake Bay.She knew she wanted to be an actor after reciting a soliloquy by Sojourner Truth in front of her entire fifth grade class. Since then, she's appeared in over 20 film and television projects. In addition to acting, Tamika is the Indie Spotlight manager for Daily Dead, where she brings readers news on independent horror projects every weekend.

The first horror film Tamika watched was Child's Play. Being eight years old at the time, she remembers being so scared when Chucky came to life that she projectile vomited. It's tough for her to choose only one movie as her favorite horror film, so she picked two: Nosferatu and The Stepford Wives (1975).
