GoFundMe for Actor Yuya Ishikawa's Fire-Damaged Bar: "Yuya Ishikawa is a character actor based out of Tokyo. You might have seen him in Noboru Iguchi's MACHINE GIRL, DEAD SUSHI, and ROBOGEISHA; Yoshihiro Nishimura's HELLDRIVER; or countless films from Sion Sono.
He also owns a small two-story bar in Tokyo's historic Golden Gai district, where he serves drinks to Japan's horror royalty and visiting genre icons nightly. It is his life. On April 12th, a massive fire broke out, destroying his top floor bar, Snack Honey, and damaging the ground floor bar, Darling. News reports now confirm it was caused by a mentally ill homeless man.
These bars were not only Yuya's life, but his livelihood. Like all bars in the Golden Gai district, they were small, each seating eight to ten people in total. They were everything to him.
That said, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help Yuya get back on his feet and rebuild.
The horror community is a family - and I'd like to show Yuya that he's got support all around the world. He is absolutely one of us.
Tamika hails from North Beach, Maryland, a tiny town inches from the Chesapeake Bay.She knew she wanted to be an actor after reciting a soliloquy by Sojourner Truth in front of her entire fifth grade class. Since then, she's appeared in over 20 film and television projects. In addition to acting, Tamika is the Indie Spotlight manager for Daily Dead, where she brings readers news on independent horror projects every weekend.
The first horror film Tamika watched was Child's Play. Being eight years old at the time, she remembers being so scared when Chucky came to life that she projectile vomited. It's tough for her to choose only one movie as her favorite horror film, so she picked two: Nosferatu and The Stepford Wives (1975).
