Arrow Films FrightFest New Blood 2 Search Details: "After the success of last year’s inaugural ‘New Blood’ search for new writers in the horror genre, the hunt is on for another batch of scribes to cook up a potent cauldron of original ideas and devilish tales. And the search starts today!

New Blood 2 finds FrightFest once again teamed with Giles Edwards of Queensbury Pictures, which aims to find new writers and nurture their project from script to screen.

One of last year’s entries, thriller BROADCAST SIGNAL INTRUSION, is now in pre-production and is one of Queensbury Pictures’ first titles out of the traps. Written by Phil Drinkwater and Tim Woodall, it will be directed by Jacob Gentry (The Signal, Syncronicity).

Giles Edwards of Queensbury Pictures said: “2017's edition of New Blood threw up a slew of vibrant, bold and riotously diverse pitches. But the hunt for great material doesn't pause for breath. Projects that strive to enthrall critically, perform commercially and that will entice a global audience hungry for thrilling new voices in the realm of fiercely entertaining genre cinema: that's the hallmark of Queensbury Pictures and of New Blood."

Ian Rattray, co-director of FrightFest commented: “The fact that Queensbury Pictures have taken last year’s winning entry to the stage where it is about to go into production vindicates our decision to partner up with them again. It’s not only an exciting venture but also an important one to help discover and nurture new talent”

Greg Day, co-director of FrightFest added: “What’s so exciting about this initiative is that it allows talented UK-based writers to interface with a US-based production company and get invaluable feedback and encouragement, knowing that it comes with a state-side commercial sensibility which is complementary to the further development of their scripts.”

The successful shortlisted applicants will workshop their ideas in a group setting under the guidance of top industry professionals and genre experts which this year includes BAFTA-nominated UK producer Jack Tarling (God’s Own Country; Await Further Instructions) who is joined again by horror icon Barbara Crampton, director (The Ranger) and producer (Psychopaths) Jenn Wexler and Queensbury Pictures’ Giles Edwards.

The New Blood networking and workshop event will be held on Thursday 23rd August, the opening day of this year’s festival, in a Central London venue.

Applications are open from Wed 4 July with potential participants asked to submit a 200-word proposal through Film Freeway. The deadline is Thurs 2 August. All successful applicants will be notified by Mon 9 August. All participants are expected to pay for their own travel and accommodation.

Bonejangles 2 Q&A: "Brett DeJager is currently prepping a sequel to his recent horror hit Bonejangles (2017), but he needs YOUR help to get it made.

Is there any interesting story about how you got involved in Bonejangles? The first one?

Brett: Well, for me... being able to direct Bonejangles was a dream come true. I was laying in bed one night watching Roseanne re-runs and Shaun O'Connell (Labyrinth Films) called me up and asked if I would direct Bonejangles. I, of course, said hell yes! We had worked together on a few short films prior to this but I figured this was my big shot. And it was already funded which was insane.

Where did the idea come from?

Brett: You'll have to ask Keith Melcher that!

And was it always intended Keith Melcher would play the title character?

Brett: Nope! He was actually our last minute decision. It turned out really awesome to have him play the title character as it really fit in with what we were trying to accomplish. He was a trooper and totally embraced the long days with tons of prosthetics and fake blood on his face.

Is Keith back in the suit for Bonejangles 2?

Brett: Oh yeah! Keith Melcher will wear the Bonejangles mask once again.

How will the sequel differ from the original?

Brett: BIGGER! Bigger and better on-screen kills are my top priority besides continuing the storyline. Bonejangles 2 will have the same tone as the first one so you'll know what to expect going into it.

Any new names onboard?

Brett: Yes! Super excited to announce that Jeremy London (Mallrats, Party of Five, 7th Heaven) has signed on to play HATCHER, Jordan Phipps (Close Calls) has signed on to play Susie Homemaker and David McMahon (American Guinea Pig: The Song of Solomon, Bonehill Road) as Balthazaar. It's going to be a RIOT!!

How can we help?

Brett: We need ALL THE HELP we can get. Honestly, we're looking for the horror community and movie fans alike to check out our Indiegogo Campaign and Like/Share/Donate. We can't do this without the fans!"

About the Author - Tamika Jones

Tamika hails from North Beach, Maryland, a tiny town inches from the Chesapeake Bay.She knew she wanted to be an actor after reciting a soliloquy by Sojourner Truth in front of her entire fifth grade class. Since then, she's appeared in over 20 film and television projects. In addition to acting, Tamika is the Indie Spotlight manager for Daily Dead, where she brings readers news on independent horror projects every weekend.

The first horror film Tamika watched was Child's Play. Being eight years old at the time, she remembers being so scared when Chucky came to life that she projectile vomited. It's tough for her to choose only one movie as her favorite horror film, so she picked two: Nosferatu and The Stepford Wives (1975).
