Hotel Transylvania has earned $253 million worldwide to date, so it's no surprise to learn that Sony is moving ahead with a sequel. This is a very early announcement, but a release date has been set for September 25, 2015, according to THR.

While it's too early for details on the story or people involved, we do know that director Genndy Tartakovsky is not expected to return and will be working on Popeye for Sony Pictures Animation. As far as actors go, we wouldn't be surprised to see all of the first movie's main cast return for the sequel.

Hotel Transylvania opened in theaters on September 25th and featured a voice cast that included Adam Sandler, Steve Buscemi, Kevin James, Cee Lo Green, Selena Gomez, and Andy Samberg:

“Welcome to the Hotel Transylvania, Dracula’s lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free to be the monsters they are without humans to bother them. On one special weekend, Dracula has invited some of the world’s most famous monsters — Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more — to celebrate his daughter Mavis’s 118th birthday. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem — but his world could come crashing down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.”
