After a number of casting rumors for Hammer Films' The Quiet Ones, the lead role has officially been cast. Jared Harris, who most should recognize from Mad Men and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows will be playing a professor who works with his students to create a poltergeist. Here is a plot description we reported on previously:

"It’s a poltergeist movie, which is based on a true story about a bunch of young scientists on a University campus who get led astray by a sort of Svengali like professor of physics and they go out and create a poltergeist, an ectoplasm from negative energy. As you can imagine, it goes really badly wrong. It’s based on a true story, an event that happened in Canada in the mid-70s.”

The film will be directed by John Pogue (Quarantine 2) and is expected to start filming in the UK this June. According to Deadline, Tom DeVille had was responsible for the original script and story, and the screenplay was revised by Craig Rosenberg, Oren Moverman and John Pogue.
