Happy Independence Day, everyone! While most of us in the US are busy with BBQs and enjoying some outdoor fun, that doesn’t mean this week’s Blu-ray and DVD releases are taking any time off, as we have a handful of titles making their debuts on July 4th.

Scream Factory has given the cult psychological thriller Windows something of an HD upgrade this week with their brand new Blu-ray, and we have several indie titles arriving on both formats as well, including Accidental Exorcist, Here Alone, Bethany, and Awakening the Zodiac. Rounding out the July 4th home releases are Peelers and a 9-movie creature feature set on DVD featuring all sorts of murderous beasties.

Accidental Exorcist (Cinedigm, Blu-ray & DVD)

A 30-something, dirt-poor alcoholic (Daniel Falicki) can't hold down a day job or maintain a normal life due to the fact that he is a natural-born exorcist. He soon learns that his power may also come with a cost to his own soul.

Awakening the Zodiac (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, DVD)

A down on their luck couple has just gotten married and purchased a beautiful home to start their new life together. As they get settled and unpack their belongings, they come across a box that does not belong to them. The box is filled with old video tapes. Their interest is piqued, and they begin to play the tapes. What they discover is a horrid sequence of events that will change their lives forever. The tapes are recordings from the Zodiac killer, who used to live in their home and is now haunting them and begins to ruin their lives.

Bethany (Uncork’d Entertainment, Blu-ray & DVD)

After Claire's mother dies, she and her husband move back to her childhood home only to have the abusive and traumatic memories of her mother come back and bring unrest into the house. Claire soon finds herself in a fog of past and present when her imaginary friend from childhood begins haunting her memories. What is this terrifying thing that is trying to reach out to her, and what does it want?

Here Alone (Lionsgate, DVD)

A young woman struggles to survive alone in the woods after a mysterious epidemic decimates society.

Peelers (Uncork’d Entertainment, Blu-ray & DVD)

Former baseball player Blue Jean Douglas is closing down her small-town strip club and leaving for good. But her plans are not so easily attained when a group of coal miners show up and with them a deadly contaminant. What starts out as a last hurrah for the infamous strip club, turns into a blood bath. With time running out, Blue Jean must step up to the plate to try and put a stop to the spread of destruction before it’s too late and she loses everything she holds dear.

Windows (Scream Factory, Blu-ray)

Directed by acclaimed cinematographer Gordon Willis (The Godfather, Annie Hall) and featuring a score by the legendary Ennio Morricone (The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly, The Hateful Eight), Windows is a dark and controversial thriller of lust and psychological pain.
