Although we're still several months away from the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Universal is wasting no time getting the sixth film in the franchise up and running, as they've officially announced a June 11th, 2021 release date for the latest sequel.

The news of Jurassic World 3 comes from multiple outlets, including Variety, who report that Universal has set Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising) as a co-writer on the third Jurassic World movie alongside Colin Trevorrow, who co-wrote the first two Jurassic World films and directed the first of the new trilogy in the franchise that all started with Michael Crichton's seminal 1990 novel, Jurassic Park. Carmichael and Trevorrow will write their screenplay based on a story by Trevorrow and Derek Connolly, who also co-wrote the first two Jurassic World movies.

In addition to co-writing the next chapter in the dinosaur franchise, Trevorrow will executive produce the Amblin Entertainment film along with Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two Jurassic Park movies.

Casting details for the third movie are unknown at this time, but Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, BD Wong, and Jeff Goldblum are among those returning for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, so perhaps we could see some of them reprise their roles in the next film... if their characters can survive the prehistoric carnage of the sequel.

A director also has yet to be named for the third Jurassic World film. Carmichael does have directing experience and has previously collaborated with Amblin Entertainment for the project Powerhouse, so perhaps we could see her step behind the camera. J.A. Bayona directed Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, but his return for the next movie hasn't been confirmed at this time.

We'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on further announcements, and if you haven't seen it already or want to experience it again, we have the trailers and synopsis for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, coming to theaters on June 22nd:
