Long before the Avengers were bringing in big numbers at the box office, 1998's Blade was paving the way for future comic book adaptations on the big screen. With the action horror film celebrating its 20th anniversary this month, the Corpse Club co-hosts celebrate the entire Blade franchise on a new episode of Daily Dead's podcast!

From a vampire bloodbath rave to the sword-centric showdown at the Temple of Eternal Night, the Corpse Club team celebrates 20 years of the Blade film franchise by revisiting the 1998 action horror movie that paved the path to the big screen for other Marvel superheroes. Co-hosts Heather Wixson, Scott Drebit, Derek Anderson, and Jonathan James gather around the microphones to discuss the movie’s eponymous half-vampire/half-human character played by Wesley Snipes, whose background in martial arts enhanced the film’s expertly choreographed fight scenes. The co-hosts also discuss the Blade franchise as a whole, including the character’s comic book origin, Guillermo del Toro's infectiously fun filmmaking style in Blade II, the fantastic performance by Parker Posey in Blade: Trinity (which also featured a lovable Pomeranian vampire), the talented supporting casts in all three films, and what they'd like to see from the franchise moving forward. So, instead of trying to ice skate uphill, kick back, relax, and listen to a new episode of Daily Dead's official podcast... just make sure you have a silver stake within reach!
