While fans of the Merc with a Mouth will have two less weeks to wait to see Deadpool 2, horror fans looking forward to The New Mutants will have to wait nearly one year longer to see it on the big screen.

According to THR, 20th Century Fox is shaking up the release dates on their schedules by moving Deadpool 2 from June 1st to May 18th and The New Mutants from April 13th to February 22nd, 2019.

A horror film set in the X-Men cinematic universe, Boone's The New Mutants has paid tribute to A Nightmare on Elm Street on its poster, and its trailer featured more than a few scares among its cast of young superhero characters trying to control their burgeoning powers.

The cast for The New Mutants includes Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair aka Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin aka Magik, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie aka Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa aka Sunspot, and Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar aka Mirage.

In a previous interview with EW, Boone said that The New Mutants movie will be "a full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe. There are no costumes. There are no supervillains. We’re trying to do something very, very different."

Deadpool 2, meanwhile, is directed by David Leitch and stars Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Zazie Beets, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, Leslie Uggams, Stefan Kapicic, and Karan Soni. Here's the official synopsis:

"After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover."

Also getting a new slot on the release calendar is the X-Men movie Gambit, which has moved from February 14th, 2019 to June 7th of that year. A Cure for Wellness director Gore Verbinski had to leave the project due to scheduling conflicts, although Channing Tatum is still expected to star.
