Ridley Scott is currently bringing the Xenomorph back to the big screen in Alien: Covenant, but he's already looking forward to the future of the Facehugger franchise, recently sharing his desire to start filming the next Alien movie "within 14 months."

Speaking with IGN, Scott mentioned that the next Alien movie is being written right now and that he'll start filming it "within 14 months."

Scott's previous comments about the next Alien film (and a potential new trilogy) made it seem like it would be called Awakening and would take place in between the events of Prometheus and Covenant, but in the IGN interview, Scott referred to Neill Blomkamp's now-defunct Alien film as Awakening, so it's unclear what exactly would be the name and timeline of the new Alien movie.

In the meantime, Alien: Covenant comes out in US theaters on May 19th. In case you missed it, check out our own Heather Wixson's review of Alien: Covenant, and stay tuned to more updates on the franchise.
