Press Release: Salem, MA - Ryan Turek, accomplished horror expert and studio executive at Blumhouse Productions (Halloween, Happy Death Day, Truth or Dare) will be a keynote speaker at the second annual Salem Horror Fest. Turek will address the current state of horror and what it reveals about our society in a kickoff event on Thursday, October 4th 2018 following the Salem Haunted Happenings Parade.

“I’m absolutely honored to have been asked to come out to the Salem Horror Fest. I’m looking forward to speaking about a genre that I live and breathe, talking with folks who enjoy it with as much passion as I do and seeing some cool movies at the fest,” Ryan Turek said.

Turek recently wrapped production for the upcoming sequel to John Carpenter’s Halloween at Blumhouse Productions which just received an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and nominations in three other categories for Jordan Peele’s Get Out. He also co-hosts the Shock Waves podcast, and has been involved in a number of entrepreneurial horror pursuits such as co-founding DreadCentral.com and ShockTilYouDrop.com where he served as managing editor. Last year, he helped launchSlashback Video, an art installation recreating the experience of going to the video rental video store with the Bearded Lady’s Mystic Museum in Burbank California.

“Few things are as scary as starting your own business. Ryan has proven it’s possible to align success with passion and vision while still pushing the conversation forward. His experience and insight are enormously significant, making him a powerful champion for the horror community,” said festival director Kay Lynch.
