After making a scary splash on the festival circuit, it was recently reported that Demián Rugna's Terrified (aka Aterrados) will be remade as an English-language movie produced by Guillermo del Toro and directed by Rugna, and now the screenwriter for the film has been revealed.

According to multiple sources, including Deadline, Sacha Gervasi has been set to write the English-language remake of Rugna's Terrified (Rugna also wrote the screenplay of his original movie) for Fox Searchlight, where del Toro has a deal to develop horror, sci-fi, and fantasy films.

An acclaimed filmmaker in his own right, Gervasi directed the award-winning documentary 2008's Anvil: The Story of Anvil, 2012's Hitchcock (which explored the life of Alfred Hitchcock during the making of Psycho), and 2017's November Criminals.

For those unfamiliar with Terrified, here's the synopsis (via Shudder): "On an ordinary suburban street in Buenos Aires, voices are heard from kitchen sinks. Bodies are levitating. Evil is here. It is up to a doctor, her colleague, and an ex-cop to get to the bottom of this neighborhood nightmare."

We'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on the Terrified remake as more details are unveiled. In the meantime, you can read Christina Bergling's Telluride Horror Show review of the movie and watch the trailer below.
