This week’s pack of horror and sci-fi home entertainment releases feature a trio of notable ’80s films, as well as an array of brand new indie titles to boot. Scream Factory is giving both Brain Dead and The Seventh Sign the Blu-ray treatment, and John Carpenter’s Christine zooms its way into 4K this Tuesday, courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. And for those of you who are more in the mood for something new, be sure to check out Dead Night, which features performances from Barbara Crampton, AJ Bowen, Brea Grant, and Daniel Roebuck.

Other notable releases on September 11th include Voodoo, Party Night, Inner Demon, American Guinea Pig: Sacrifice, and the 2017 version of The Watcher in the Woods.

Brain Dead (Scream Factory, Blu-ray)

The Eunice Corporation is on the ground floor of an exciting growth industry, utilizing a memory re-sculpting technique pioneered by eccentric neurosurgeon Rex Martin (Bill Pullman, Independence Day, The Grudge). It envisions nationwide clinics where anyone can lose the hang-ups of an unhappy childhood, a failed romance or a botched career. At Eunice's "New You" outlets, a simple operation will give customers peace of mind. Or it might leave them brain dead. But when Martin refuses to cooperate with Eunice, he soon finds himself plunged into a surreal existence that intertwines dreams and reality. Has Martin slipped over the edge into madness? Or have corporate profit mongers given him a push, making him the guinea pig in his own experiment? To know the answer is to know true terror! Directed by Adam Simon (TV's Salem) with a story by TV's The Twilight Zone writer Charles Beaumont.

Christine: 4K (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, 4K Ultra HD/Blu/Digital HD)

John Carpenter brings Stephen King’s best-selling novel to life in this chilling thriller. She was born in Detroit ... on an automobile assembly line. But she is no ordinary automobile. Deep within her chassis lives an unholy presence. She is CHRISTINE – a red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury whose unique standard equipment includes an evil, indestructible vengeance that will destroy anyone in her way. She seduces 17-year-old Arnie Cunningham (Keith Gordon), who becomes consumed with passion for her sleek, rounded, chrome-laden body. She demands his complete and unquestioned devotion and when outsiders seek to interfere, they become the victims of Christine’s horrifying wrath.

Dead Night (MPI Home Video, DVD)

James and his wife Casey load up their teenage kids and head to a remote cabin in Oregon for a weekend trip. When James ventures into the dark, snowy forest in search of firewood, he encounters a body hidden in the frozen terrain. Barely alive, James brings her back to the cabin for help, but the family has no way of knowing that the woman’s presence will be the catalyst for a series of horrifying events and bloody carnage that will change their lives forever.

The Seventh Sign (Scream Factory, Blu-ray)

Demi Moore stars as Abby Quinn, a young woman who discovers that she and her unborn child play a terrifying part in the chain of events destined to end the world. Already troubled with a difficult pregnancy, Abby grows more distraught once she and her husband (Michael Biehn, The Terminator) rent their studio apartment to David (Jürgen Prochnow, In The Mouth Of Madness), an enigmatic drifter. As Abby becomes ensnared in a series of otherworldly experiences, it becomes apparent that David is carrying out the mythical prophecies of Judgment Day ... and that she has been chosen as the instrument of the Seventh Sign. But can Abby — or anyone — stand between the wrath of God and the future of humanity?
