We knew that a sequel to Sinister has been in development, but we've been waiting to hear who would replace Scott Derrickson as director. An announcement has just been made and fans of 2012's Citadel should be very happy.
As previously reported, Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill returned to co-write the story. Scott Derrickson took to Twitter today to announce that Citadel director Ciaran Foy will sit in the director's chair for Sinister 2, with Derrickson remaining involved as a producer with Jason Blum.
There's no release date or plot details at this time, but we'll keep Daily Dead readers posted on any developments. For those that didn't see the original movie, it starred Ethan Hawke as a crime novelist who makes a horrifying discovery in his new home:
“A true crime novelist struggling to find his next big story moves his family into a house where the horrific murder of an entire family took place. But after finding a box of home videos in which other families are also brutally murdered, his investigation leads him to a supernatural entity that may be placing his own family in harm’s way.”
