It's been a while since we've heard anything about Frankenstein's Army, but we have an update on the project from the European Film Market. The movie is currently shooting in Prague and has been picked up for UK distribution by Momentum Pictures, a division of Alliance Films.

MPI/Dark Sky Films brought us Hatchet II, Stake Land, and The Innkeepers, and is helping finance production of this film. Dutch filmmaker Richard Raaphorst (Worst Case Scenario) is directing the movie and was inspired by shocking vintage newsreel footage, which he used as a jumping-off point for the story:

“Toward the end of World War II, Russian soldiers pushing into eastern Germany stumble across a secret Nazi lab, one that has unearthed and begun experimenting with the journal of one Dr. Victor Frankenstein. The scientists have used the legendary Frankenstein’s work to assemble an army of supersoldiers stitched together from the body parts of their fallen comrades – a desperate Hitler’s last ghastly ploy to escape defeat.”

Last year a couple of promotional videos were put together by Raaphorst to generate interest in the project. We've included links to our earlier coverage below:
