While CBS All Access is moving forward with a new adaptation of Stephen King's epic post-apocalyptic novel The Stand, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the first adaptation of the book, directed by Mick Garris from a screenplay by King, and CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment are celebrating this September with a Collector's Edition Blu-ray release of the miniseries.

Stephen King's The Stand (1994) miniseries will be released on Blu-ray on September 24th. Full bonus features have yet to be announced, but the Collector's Edition is expected to be a restored version and we'll be sure to keep Daily Dead readers updated as more details are revealed.

In the meantime, you can view the cover art for the new release below, and in case you missed it, you can listen to Mick Garris and Stephen King celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Stand miniseries on an episode of Post Mortem with Mick Garris.

"The Stand is a post-apocalyptic horror/fantasy novel by American author Stephen King. It expands upon the scenario of his earlier short story "Night Surf" and presents a detailed vision of the total breakdown of society after the accidental release of a strain of influenza that had been modified for biological warfare causes an apocalyptic pandemic, killing off over 99% of the world's population."

About the Author - Derek Anderson

Raised on a steady diet of R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps books and Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Derek has been fascinated with fear since he first saw ForeverWare being used on an episode of Eerie, Indiana.
