Even though The ABCs of Death is not yet available on Blu-ray/DVD, the VOD release and festival screenings were successful enough that Magnet Releasing, Timpson Films, and Drafthouse Films are already moving forward with a sequel. The announcement was made at Cannes today, and included the initial list of directors:

Bill Plympton, Alex De La Iglesias (The Last Circus), Rodney Ascher (Room 237), Erik Matti, Lancelot Imasuen, Kristina Buozyte and Bruno Samper (Vanishing Waves), Sion Sono (Cold Fish), Vincenzo Natali (Splice, Cube), Larry Fessenden (The Last Winter), Marcus Dunstan (The Collection), Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo (Inside, Livid), E.L. Katz (Cheap Thrills), Jen and Sylvia Soska (American Mary), Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado (Rabies, Big Bad Wolves), Julian Gilbey (A Lonely Place To Die), Dennison Ramalho (Ninjas, Love For Mother Only), Jerome Sable (The Legend Of Beaver Dam), and Robert Morgan (Bobby Yeah).

Deadline reports that the full list of 26 directors will be announced this summer, with one director being selected again from a short film contest. The ABCs of Death will see a Blu-ray/DVD release on May 21st. Here's more information about the movie:

“Twenty-six directors. Twenty-six ways to die. The ABC’s OF DEATH is perhaps the most ambitious anthology film ever conceived with productions spanning fifteen countries and featuring segments directed by over two dozen of the world’s leading talents in contemporary genre film. Inspired by children’s educational books, the motion picture is comprised of twenty-six individual chapters, each helmed by a different director assigned a letter of the alphabet. The directors were then given free reign in choosing a word to create a story involving death.”

The ABCs of Death is currently available on Cable VOD, iTunes, Amazon, Xbox Zune, Playstation Market, VUDU and Google Play.  Catch up on our earlier coverage by visiting the following links:
