A mind-bending cinematic experience, Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead's The Endless has widely been received as one of the most innovative and intriguing movies released this century (in case you missed it, you can read Heather Wixson's 5-star review here), and we're thrilled that the filmmaking duo now have their next project lined up, the sci-fi thriller Synchronic.

Deadline reports that Anthony Mackie (Avengers: Infinity War, The Hate U Give) and Jamie Dornan (The 9th Life of Louis Drax, Robin Hood) are in discussions to headline the cast of Synchronic, which will be the fourth feature-length directorial effort for Benson and Moorhead (who also directed Resolution, Spring, and the aforementioned The Endless together).

Written by Benson, Synchronic follows "two New Orleans paramedics [who would be played by Mackie and Dornan], whose lives are ripped apart after encountering a series of horrific deaths linked to a designer drug with bizarre, otherworldly effects." Benson and Moorhead will produce the project via Rustic Films, alongside David Lawson Jr.

Here's what the directing duo had to say about the casting of the lead roles for Synchronic (via Deadline):

"Being huge fans of the nuanced, brilliant work of Anthony and Jamie, this is a filmmaker’s wildest dream come true. They each possess an extraordinary depth of personal experiences, humor, and pathos that brings a massive wellspring of humanity to the battle-scarred partnership being portrayed. We’ve found the perfect collaborators to tell a bold, frightening, heartstring-tugging story."

XYZ Films is currently overseeing international sales for the film, and we'll be sure to keep Daily Dead readers updated as more details on Synchronic are revealed.
