Fans of The Walking Dead comic book series have been wondering when Michonne would show up in the TV show. She's one of the more popular characters from the series, and while her inclusion has been teased, there hasn't been official confirmation of when she'd show up.
While speaking with FEARnet during the Saturn Awards, Frank Darabont confirmed that her appearance is planned for season three:
"When she [appears], she's gonna rock your world. I can officially tell you Michonne is coming in the third season."
No one has been cast in the role yet, but it's nice to know they have the story and characters mapped out for future seasons already. You can visit the source link below for more information, including the status of getting Stephen King and Joe Hill to co-write an episode.
The Walking Dead figures from McFarlane Toys have unique features and accessories, but did you know one of them has an exploding head? If you pick up the Zombie Roamer figure, due out in September, you'll be able to try it out for yourself.
Until then, McFarlane Toys posted a video showing the prototype exploding head feature and we have embedded it for you.
AMC is hoping for The Walking Dead to have a big presence at this year's Emmys (just look at their Michael Rooker ads), and showrunner Frank Darabont recently sat down with Deadline for an interview. He talks a bit about the Emmys and pitching the show to AMC, but here is what he had to say about the upcoming season:
"It’s fair to say that the first six episodes were teeing up a lot of conflicts that will be more fully explored in our second season. We find a growing conflict with our two main guys, Rick [Andrew Lincoln] and Shane [Jon Bernthal]. We’re really excited about putting all of the characters on a chessboard and seeing how wonderfully and effectively we can toss conflict into the game."
He also addresses the rumors from last year that much of the writing staff from the first season had been let go:
"Let me just begin by stating the obvious: that it was all pretty overblown. It left the impression that I walked in one day and murdered 12 people. Would you like to know how many writers we were talking about? Two. My thought had been that they’d under-delivered, and a change was necessary. I had to do too much of it by myself last year, and that was only six episodes."

Voting for this year's Emmy nominees is currently underway and AMC wants to make sure you don't forget about Michael Rooker's fantastic performance in the first season of The Walking Dead. They'd like to see him get the award for "Guest Actor in a Drama Series" and have released "for your consideration" ads, hoping that fans will spread the word.
This year's Emmy nominations will be announced on Thursday, July 14, with the awards show taking place on September 18th. Continue reading to check out the advertisements and feel free to pass them along.
Pruitt Taylor joining The Walking Dead is the first new cast announcement of the second season. His picture may seem familiar if you've watched Deadwood, The Mentalist, or any of the other numerous TV shows and movies he has appeared in.
TVLine reveals that he's playing Otis, a foreman at Hershel’s Farm: "For the uninitiated (aka those unfamiliar with the Walking Dead graphic novels), Vince’s character is described as good-natured and polite, this despite the rather harrowing (read: near-deadly) circumstances under which he first meets Rick, Lori et al."
Other new characters for this season include Hershel and his daughter Maggie, although additional casting announcements have not yet been made. With season 2 currently filming, we should hear about these roles being filled shortly. AMC posted a new behind-the-scenes video from the first day of shooting The Walking Dead Season 2:
"What's it like to film on a deserted stretch of Georgia highway that's littered with cars and dead bodies? The cast and crew of The Walking Dead are all too happy to show you in this new behind-the-scenes video from the set of Season 2. Watch the video now to see Writer/Director/Executive Producer Frank Darabont touring the set; catch up with stars Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Jon Bernthal (Shane Walsh) and Sarah Wayne Callies (Lori Grimes); and witness what is perhaps the most awkward post-apocalyptic romance ever as Steven Yeun (Glenn) tries to seduce a rotting corpse."

The second season of The Walking Dead is currently filming and AMC has been releasing new updates on their blog. Today, they have an interview with Robert Kirkman answering a variety of questions regarding the upcoming season:
"Q: Previously, you announced that Hershel's farm would play a big factor in Season 2. What can you tell us about that?
A: Season 1 focused on Atlanta so much, and we got to see desolate Atlanta and how this stuff affects cities. And that was really cool, and a lot of cool visuals come from that. But rather than repeat ourselves we're going out into the woods. We're gonna see a lot of rural roads and open fields see how bad things are as you get away from the city centers. It's definitely different enough that Season 2 stands on its own and has its own thing. And a lot of that comes from Hershel's farm and seeing these characters. All I can say is it's gonna be great, and the casting on Season 2 is going to be as pitch-perfect as the casting on Season 1. I can't wait for everyone to meet Hershel.
In case you missed it, there are two companies working on separate The Walking Dead board games. Z-Man Games is working on a board game based off of the comic book series, while Cryptozoic is working on a game based off of the TV show.
MTV Geek recently caught up with Cryptozoic and asked them for details on the upcoming game:
Geek: Well then let's get a bit deeper into the mechanics of this game. How exactly will The Walking Dead board game work?
Jones: The board game has got some interesting mechanics. Moving around the board, and it being a representation of the goals from the first season, was a good abstraction to build mechanics on top of. You travel around to the CDC, the old folks home, and these different places, having to get to each of the four corners, collect a card from there, and get back to the base camp. But as you’re doing that, you are drawing from an encounter deck, potentially encountering hostile survivors, friendly survivors, and often zombies.

Filming of the thirteen-episode second season had just started in Atlanta, Georgia and Frank Darabont recently commented on the beginning of the new season:
“At this moment, I’m standing on a stretch of post-apocalypse interstate in Georgia, littered with abandoned cars and blessing my good luck to be reunited with our amazing cast, and our fantastic directors and crew. Across the board, there are none better. It’s great to be shooting again. I think we’ve embarked on a great season.”

Unfortunately, Telltale was a little more secretive at this years E3 than expected, so there have been no trailers or game demos for The Walking Dead game, but we do have story information and concept art we'll be reporting on later today.
