*Updated with additional casting news* Last August, we first reported that a modern-day Sleepy Hollow TV series was in development, and we now have the first casting news and character details. Deadline revealed that Orlando Jones and Katia Winter have been cast in lead roles. Jones will be playing Lt. Frank Williams, "the serious and sternly professional detective transferred to Sleepy Hollow to investigate a double homicide."

The series is said to follow a modern-day Ichabod Crane, who "partners with Sleepy Hollow’s local female sheriff to solve the mysteries of a town ravaged by the battle between good and evil." While we don't know who will play Ichabod Crane at this time, Katia Winter will be playing Crane's wife. Winter was most recently seen in Dexter Season 8 as Nadia.

*Update: It has just been announced that Nicole Beharie has also joined the cast and will play Detective Abbie Archer. Deadline revealed the following details about her character: "Abbie is about to leave for the FBI Academy when she witnesses the brutal murder of someone close to her, and her story is corroborated by only one person — a man called Ichabod Crane."

The Sleepy Hollow pilot has been written by Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, and will be directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld, Total Recall remake). Expect additional casting news and character details in the coming weeks.
