Weekend Box Office Update

It was a close race for the top spot at the box office this weekend, but Taken 2 held the top spot once again. The film earned $22.5 million and brought its total to $86.7 million. Both Argo and Sinister performed very well, especially considering the R-ratings both films carried. Argo earned $20.1 million, while Sinister pulled in $18.25.

Hotel Transylvania crossed the $100 million mark, reaching $102.1 million after a $17.3 million take over the weekend. Frankenweenie continues to struggle, having only earned $22 million since opening, but it may hold steady for the next couple of weeks with Halloween approaching.

Next week sees the release of Paranormal Activity 4 and Alex Cross. With Paranormal Activity 3 earning over $100 million last year, we curious to see if the latest installment surpasses previous sequels or if franchise fatigue is starting to set in. Here are the top ten results for this weekend:
