Weekend Box Office Update

None of the new holiday releases were strong enough to take the top spot away from Breaking Dawn Part 2. The movie made $43 million this weekend and has earned a total of $226.9 million since opening. In second place was Skyfall, which took second place with an impressive $36 million. It's performance in the last week set it ahead of the past two Bond sequels, which never broke the $200 million mark in the US, and it shows no signs of slowing down.

Lincoln received a holiday bump in ticket sales and had a decent showing at the box office this weekend. Rise of the Guardians and Life of Pi broke the $30 million mark when you factor in Wednesday and Thursday ticket sales, but both are far away from making back their production budget. Next week sees the release of The Collection and Killing Them Softly, although we wouldn't be surprised if the top three spots remain the same next week. Here are the top 10 box office results for this weekend:

1. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 - $43,070,000
2. Skyfall - $36,000,000
3. Lincoln - $25,020,000
4. Rise of the Guardians - $24,025,000
5. Life of Pi - $22,000,000
6. Wreck-It Ralph - $16,760,000
7. Red Dawn - $14,600,000
8. Flight - $8,600,000
9. Silver Linings Playbook - $4,623,000
10. Argo - $3,875,000
